Does a mobile phone work?
A european GSM mobile phone does not work, because they use a CDMA network in Korea.
You can still use your mobile phone as an alarm clock :) All young Koreans have
a mobile phone. You can buy a second-hand phone in shops but you might need to
look for one for a while, because it's not common in Korea to buy second-hand.
You need to ask a Korean friend with you when opening an account, because the
papers need to be filled in Korean. It is also
a nice challence to learn to use a Samsung phone with Korean menus.
If you want to call abroad, the cheapest way
is to buy a phone card. There is also a phone in every room at the dormitory and you can ask
people from your country to call it. You can call other rooms free of charge
with it, but not outside.
